A Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated in honor of Mike Nolan, a native of Ireland who had spent most of his 91 years in and around Jamaica. Mr Nolan died September 26 in the Guthrie County hospital and the final rites were held Saturday at 10 a m from St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jamaica.
Celebrant was Rev Frank Palmer, pastor of the church. The casket was carried by Dean Blougher, Marvin Peckumn, Joe McDermott, Emil Paulsen, Delos Garrity and Art McDermott. Interment was made in the St Mary’s cemetery near Jamaica.
Michael J Nolan was born January 26,1882 in County Galway, Ireland, the son of John and Mary Nolan. At the age of 18 he came to the United States, settling on a farm near Jamaica. In 1953 he retired and moved into Jamaica. He has lived at the Bayard Nursing Home the past two years. Mr Nolan was a member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church at Jamaica.
He passed away September 26th at the Guthrie County Hospital at the age of 91. Those who preceded him in death include his parents and one brother, Pete. Among his survivors are first cousins: Mrs Loretta Smith and Mrs Peter Mischo both of Fort Dodge, other relatives and friends.
