The Bayard News Thursday, Sept. 29, 1977

A sudden and fatal heart attack claimed the life of Morton Burdette Russell, 62, Sunday afternoon in his home in Diamond City, Arkansas. A native of Bayard, Mr Russell had lived the last several years in Arkansas.
According to reports from Diamond City, he was watching television and as he arose from his chair he was stricken. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body has been brought to the Starling Funeral Home in Bayard where it will await the funeral service which will be held Friday at 10:30 a m from the Bayard United Methodist Church. The pastor, Rev Steven Wainwright, will officiate and interment will be made in the Highland Cemetery.
A family visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p m this evening.
Mr Russell is survived by his widow, Gladys, of Diamond City; sons, Robert of Villisca and Sgt Barry with the military stationed in Germany; seven grandchildren; brothers, Darrell, George, Jack and William, and sisters, Lunele Trucks and Martha Osten.
He was the son of Mr and Mrs Will Russell who preceded him in, death along with a son, Jack, and brothers, Richard and Warren.
