Garrett Miller was born in Cambria county, Pennyslvania on November, 29, 1829. Died at the home of his daughter Elizabeth Crawley, March 11,1914, at the age of 84. He was the last of the family of Christian and Elizabeth Miller. He was married to Margaret A. Stevens on October 29,1851. To this union was born two sons and one daughter, the sons dying in infancy. He came to this county in 1852 and suffered all the hardships and privations of the early settlers. August 22,1857, his wife died leaving him with one child, now Mrs. C.T. Crawley on January 28, 1860 he was married to Rachel Strange to them were born 11 children, Ann K. Cabbage, Martha M. Crawley, Vera V. Nelson, Ellie E. Miller, Fred A. Miller, Christa O. Miller, Isaac E. Miller, Frankie F. Beghtel, Charlie P. Miller and Siddie S. Johnston. The following having preceded him to the Great Beyond, Martha M. Ella E. Christo O., Isaac E. His wife dying Jan. 12, 1907, leaving him to finish the journey of life alone. There are left to mourn his loss, 7 children, 30 grand-children and a host of other relatives and friends. For the of about 20 years he has been almost totally blind, but he bore his affliction with great fortitude and patience. His funeral services were conducted by Rev. L.F. Chamberlain, after which he was laid to rest beside his wife in the Glendon cemetery.
