Marx Johns Died In West, Buried Here
Marx Johns, 79, passed away October 29, at the Convalescent hospital in San Jose, Calif. Hardening of the arteries was cause of death. Mr. Johns had made his home in California the past year to be near his sons, following the death of his wife on October 21, 1969.
The body was cremated in California and the ashes flown here where they were interred at the Washington township cemetery in Morrison beside his wife. The Nottger Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Johns was born in Lincoln, Ia., on June 18, 1891, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Johns. He was married to Bessie Dickinson at Grundy Center Feb. 21, 1917. They made their home in various places in Grundy county before moving to Grundy Center in 1935. They lived here until 1959 when they moved to Cedar Falls. They were caretakers at the Cedar Falls Boat Club for several years.
Mr. Johns was employed by Tom Marion in the Salvage business for 15 years, then worked for Ubbie Petersen and Buchanan Implement.
Surviving are the two sons, Myron of Modesto, Calif. and Merle of Cupertino, Calif., also three grandchildren.
