Obituary

Rasmus Jensen was born in Stege, on the Island Moen, Denmark, Nov. 8th, 1839.

He was married to Miss Karen Kirstine Henningsen April 28, 1867 in the Lutheran church of Stege. They lived on the Island of Falster twelve years after their marriage, then emigrated to America, arriving in Morrison May 11, 1880, where they have continued to reside up to the present time. Five children were born to them, two sons and three daughters. The two sons and one daughter have preceded their father to the world beyond.

For more than a year Mr. Jensen has suffered more or less from a chronic disease which he bore with great courage and fortitude. Recently his sickness became more acute and his failure was rapid. It was not until Friday, March 26th, that he gave up his regular work at the post office and remained at home taking to his bed, and peacefully passed away a few minutes after 6 o'clock Wednesday evening, March 31, 1909, in the 70th year of his age.

Mr. Jensen has been for many years an elder in the Presbyterian church in Morrison, faithful in the discharge of his duties, always aiming to do what he could for the cause of religion in the world.

A good man has gone from among us and he will be missed. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, two daughters and a brother all of Morrison, Iowa.

His funeral was held in the Presbyterian church in Morrison in the afternoon of April 2nd, conducted by Rev. H. B. Dye of Grundy Center, when a large number of his friends were in attendance.

The floral tributes were very fine, one artistic piece deserving especial mention, an arched gateway with the gates ajar stood at the right of the pulpit was arranged with remarkable skill.

The interment was in Morrison cemetery.

Mr. Jensen has been postmaster at Morrison for nearly twelve years and his familiar face will be greatly missed by his many acquaintances. The sorrowing family have the sympathy of the entire community.

We desire to extend our gratitude to the many kind friends and neighbors who so nobly assisted us and expressed their sympathy by beautiful floral offerings during the days saddened by the sickness and death of our beloved husband and father.
