Friend H. Miller Funeral Held

Funeral services for Friend H. Miller, 73, Grundy Center, were held Friday, July 22 with French Funeral Home, Reinbeck, in charge of services. Burial was made in Washington Twp. Cemetery, south of Morrison.

Mr. Miller died late Tuesday afternoon, July 19, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

He was born September 17, 1903, a son of James and Harriet (Hyland) Miller on a farm south of Morrison. He was educated in rural schools and then Reinbeck High School, graduating with the class of 1921.

He married Arlene Reynolds on December 25, 1927, a Laurens, Iowa, and the couple lived on a farm south of Morrison their entire married life. His wife, Arlene, preceded him in death in 1969. He then married Elma Trample-Van Loh on February 14, 1970, and the couple retired and moved to Grundy Center in 1975.

Friend was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck; Coin Lodge No. 394, A.F. & A.M.; Consistory and Shriner; a charter member of the Reinbeck Saddle Club and holder of a life-time membership.

Survivors include: his wife Elma of Grundy Center; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Donna) Brandt of Reinbeck; two sons, James E. of Grundy Center and Paul of Sioux City; two brothers, J. Harold Miller of Reinbeck and William L. Miller of Shelton, Washington; one sister, Mrs. William (Cora) Pattee of Dinuba, Calif.; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
