Walter L. Miller Died At Hospital

Walter L. Miller died Friday morning at 6:30 at the Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo where he had been a patient since May 23rd. He was operated upon at the hospital on June 6th, but the operation brought no relief. Cause of his death was given as uremic poisoning. He had been in fairly good health up to the beginning of his last illness. He was 80 years old on the 13th of last February.

Mr. Miller was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Newton Miller. He was born in Gans, Pennsylvania, on February 13, 1872. At the age of 9 he came with his parents to Grundy county where they purchased a farm a mile and a half east of Grundy Center.

On February 24, 1897, Walter Miller and Elizabeth Miller were married. They began life together on the Miller farm east of Grundy Center. They continued to reside there until they built a home and moved to Grundy Center in 1909. Mr. and Mrs. Miller had no children. For several years Mrs. Miller's sister, Mrs. M. L. Hostetter, and daughter Helen made their homes with the Millers. Mrs. Hostetter's daughter, Helen Caves, has been residing in Florida since her marriage. For several years the Millers have been living in Florida during the cold portion of the year.

Surviving aside from the widow and sister-in-law and daughter are his sister, Mrs. Etta Drake, of Grundy Center.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church in Grundy Center. The services were conducted by Rev. Gerben Van Putten. Burial was in the cemetery at Morrison.
