Mrs. Walter Miller Dies In Hospital

Mrs. Walter Miller died at 2 o'clock Tuesday morning in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids. She was a patient in the hospital ten days before her death. Death was due to advanced age and complications. Had she lived until next January, she would have been 90 years old.

The body was brought to the Engelkes Funeral Home in Grundy Center where arrangements were made. Services will be in the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center at two o'clock on Thursday afternoon. The service will be conducted by Rev. Donald Jafvert. Burial will be by the side of her husband in the Morrison cemetery.

Mrs. Miller had been spending most of her winters in Florida for many years. Several weeks ago she wanted to return to Iowa, and her niece, Mrs. Marvin Doherty, and nephew, Virgil Copley, and Sam Mooty brought her to Cedar Rapids from Homestead, Florida. She was at the home of Mrs. Marvin Doherty, Cedar Rapids, when she was taken sick.

Was Born in Scott County
Mrs. Miller was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Miller. She was born Jan. 1st, 1872, at Eldridge, Scott county, Iowa. At the age of ten she came with her parents to Grundy county. She was married to Walter Miller Feb. 24, 1897. The couple resided on their farm 1 1/2 miles east of Grundy Center until 1913 when they moved to Grundy Center. Mr. Miller died June 13, 1952. The couple for several years spent their winters in Florida. They retained their home in Grundy Center until a few years ago. The couple had no children.

Surviving are her sister, Mrs. Sara Hostetter, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters. They were James Miller, Mrs. John Copley, Mrs. James Mooty, Mrs. J. H. Long, Mrs. T. W. Mooty and Mrs. Tom Copley.
