Mrs. Wm. Hostetter Dies In California

Word has been received by Mrs. Ernest Koch from Wellsburg announcing the death of her mother, Mrs. William Hostetter, of Alpine, California. Mrs. Hostetter was a former resident of Washington township, Grundy county. Her body will be returned here for burial in the Morrison cemetery. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Services Sunday For Mrs. Hostetter

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Hostetter were held Sunday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. in the Ferree Funeral Home, Grundy Center.

Mrs. Lillian Florence Hostetter was born at Blaine, Pennsylvania, June 4, 1883. She married William H. Hostetter on Nov. 30, 1905 and lived a large part of her life in Grundy county, near Morrison.

In 1946 Mrs. Hostetter, with her husband, moved from Grundy county to Alpine, Calif.

After 54 years of married life, she passed away on Monday, October 26, at the Grossmont hospital in La Mesa, Calif., at the age of 76, from heart failure.

The body of the deceased was sent by train from California to Marshalltown, where it was met by Mr. Ferree and taken to the funeral home.

Rev. Roger Treadway officiated at the service in the funeral home, and Merle Mamminga sang two solos accompanied by Mrs. Carl Palmer at the organ. Those in charge of flower arrangements were Mrs. Elmer Geiter and Mrs. Theo. Meinert.

Following the service at the funeral home, Mrs. Hostetter was laid to rest in Washington cemetery, near Morrison, Iowa. Pallbearers were Elmer Geiter, Theo. Meinert, Harold Lynch, Harold Mooty, Chas. Mooty Jr., Howard Davis.

Mrs. Hostetter was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Howard Graesing; one brother, Roy Rhea, and one sister, Mrs. Lawrence Wiebly.

She is survived by her husband, William H. Hostetter; three daughters: Mrs. Mason McDaniel, Mrs. Gale Anderson, and Mrs. Ernest Koch; one foster son, Ernest Hostetter; one sister, Mrs. Herman Barfels; four brothers: John Rhea, James Rhea, Robert Rhea and Byran Rhea; and several grandchildren.
