Lester R. Harting, 36, of 934 Cutler St., died Wednesday evening, Oct. 25, at the hospice unit of Covenant Medical Center at Kimball Avenue following a lengthy illness.

He was born Feb. 16, 1953, in Waterloo, the son of Robert and Darlene Schick Harting. He married Patricia J. Lensing June 28, 1986 in Evansdale.

He served with the U.S. Marines and had been employed at Deere & Co. for 15 years.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Justin Harting of Jesup; four daughters, Jennifer Harting at home, Samantha Ludwig and Joan Lensing, both of Waterloo, and Sandra Lensing of Jesup; three grandchildren; his father of Waterloo; his mother of Jesup; two brothers, Leland Harting of Evansdale and Leonard Harting of Jesup; and two sisters, Roxanne Jones of Evansdale and Roberta Whitesell of Laughlin, Nev.; he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Harting, and a sister, Susanne Harting.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Evansdale, with burial in the Morrison Cemetery in Morrison.

Friends may call at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and for an hour before services at the church.
