Ira S. Finney Of Morrison Buried There Last Friday

Funeral services for Ira S. Finney, 73, of Morrison, were held at the Presbyterian church in Morrison at 2:30 p.m. last Friday, with Rev. O. R. Jones, pastor of the Methodist church in Reinbeck officiating. Burial was held in the Morrison cemetery.

Mr. Finney died at his home late Wednesday afternoon, January 11th, after an attack of heart trouble after having been confined to his bed the past two weeks.

He had been a resident of Morrison for the past 45 years and would have been 74 years old in a few more weeks. His general health had been on the decline for some time during which he was afflicted with a peculiar malady known as multiplying tumors on his back. Repeated trips to the University hospital at Iowa City afforded only temporary relief and while the end was not entirely expected, a heart attack caused his death on Wednesday. Throughout the duration of his illness he displayed the greatest of fortitude and made no complaints about his condition but kept to his feet as long as he could.

He is survived by his widow; one brother, James, Alexandria, Indiana; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Braasch, Des Moines; and Mrs. Francis Phillips, Los Angeles, California; one son, William, Reinbeck, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Finney was born February 5th, 1865, in Pennsylvania, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Finney. He was married to Emma Fosha on October 20, 1891. At an early age he moved with his parents to Illinois, where he lived until early manhood, at which time he removed to Iowa. With the exception of a brief residence in Cedar Falls, in 1893, the family home has been in Morrison since that time.

Casket bearers were D. R. Richmond, L. A. Moyers, Edward Beckwith, George Morrill, Manne Bakker and Jesse Allgood.

Relatives from a distance who attended were Mrs. Lillie Schuler and son, Robert, of Des Moines, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Brounard, of Colo.
