Yesterday afternoon at her home near Morrison occurred the death of Mrs. Lawrence Copley after an illness of just a week. Mrs. Copley has been very ill since the birth of a baby on Wednesday of last week, her heart having been weak. It was impossible for the doctors to do much with her as she was so weak. Mrs. Copley was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Callahan of Lincoln township, and was a young woman of twenty-four[sic] years of age. She was married to Mr. Copley about a year ago. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at one o'clock.

Sarah Callahan Copley

God thought to give the sweetest thing
In his Almighty power
To earth and deeply pondering
What it should be, one hour
In deepest joy and love of heart
Outweighing every other
He moved the gates of heaven apart
And gave to earth a mother

Sarah Francis Callahan was born near Conrad, Iowa, November 5th, 1884, and passed away after a week's illness at her home at Morrison, Iowa, Wednesday afternoon, May 1st, 1912.

On January 11th, 1911, she was united in marriage to J. Laurence Copley, who is left to mourn her untimely death, and to his care and guidance is left the infant daughter for whom the mother gave her own life and who can never know that most beautiful of God's gifts to this world--a mother's love. Brief as was their happiness, his grief will be softened by the memory that she was prepared for the Grim Reaper and in peace and resignation yielded her soul to God.

Her father and mother, four sisters and four brothers survive her and to them is this loss keenly felt because it brings the first break in a large and happy family circle.

In the death of Sarah Copley, a beautiful and useful young life is ended. Gentle and considerate with all with whom she came in contact, kind and helpful always. She was a sincere and loyal friend to many, and the void that is made will be felt by a circle that is broader than her home.

She was a member of the church of God, known as the Alice church and a lovely Christian character. Her faith in her Maker manifested itself in her last few hours when as she bid her loved ones goodbye, she told them, "It is not hard to die. It is easy, easy to die.

Rest after much suffering has come to her and though we mourn the departure, yet we can feel that her life has been an inspiration and that we and the world are better because she has lived.

On Friday afternoon, in the Presbyterian church of Morrison, the last sad rites were held, Rev. Purmort, of Des Moines, conducting the services and the Reinbeck quartette having charge of the music.

Among the relatives and from a distance who were present for the funeral were Frank Callahan, Joseph Callahan and two daughters of Clarinda, Mina Martz, Mason City, Henry and Richard Copley, Davenport and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Miller of Waterloo--Contributed

Card of Thanks
With grateful hearts we will ever remember the good friends, who by deeds of kindness, words of comfort, and beautiful floral offering, expressed their loving sympathy for us during our bereavement in the loss of our dear one and we take this means of thanking you, one and all.
J. Laurence Copley
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Callahan and Family
