J. Lawrence Copley
J. Lawrence Copley, 75, of 1002 W. 4th St., died at 7:25 p.m. Thursday at Schoitz Memorial hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage.
He was born on Jan. 11, 1886, in Grundy County, the son of John and Nancy Miller Copley. Mr. Copley spent most of his life farming in this area, retiring in 1944. He is survived by his widow, Zoe Tucker Copley, 1002 W. 4th St., whom he married on Oct. 16, 1950 in Waterloo; and also by a daughter, Mrs. Frank H. Wilson, Kingsburg, Calif., and three grandchildren; four sisters, Miss Ida Copley and Mrs. Anna Jackson, Des Moines; Mrs. Rhoda Abel of Guttenberg; Mrs. Allene Wilson, Chico, Calif.; two bothers, Ellis Copley, Tama, Ia.; Burtis Copley, Independence. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Sarah Callahan Copley, whom he married in 1911 in Grundy county; three brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Copley was a member of Waterloo Lodge No. 105 AF & AM.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the O'Keefe and Towne funeral home. Burial will be in the Morrison, Ia., cemetery. The Rev. Leo G. Potter, pastor of Central Christian church, will conduct the services. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services.
