Whitten--Gladys Marie Arnold, 88, of Wenatchee, Wash., formerly of Whitten, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Colonial Vista Convalescent Center, East Wenatchee, Wash., of natural causes; survivors include a daughter, Beverly June Freed of Cassville, Wis; two sons, George E. Jr. of Tacoma, Wash., and David B. of Wenatchee; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Robert Fisher of Hawley, Pa.; she was preceded in death by her husband, George, on Nov. 21, 1971; a sister, Opal Daniels; and a brother, Milo Fisher; private family graveside services will take place at a later date in Benson Cemetery, Whitten; Creps-Abels Funeral Home, Eldora, is in charge of arrangements; Mrs. Arnold was a cook at Cascade Hospital, Leavenworth, Wash., until retiring in the early 1970s, and worked seasonally as a packer in fruit warehouses.

Gladys Marie Arnold, 88, of Wenatchee, Washington, formerly of Whitten, died on Wednesday, September 4, 1996 at the Colonial Vista Convalescent Center in East Wenatchee of natural causes.
Private family graveside services will be held at a later date at the Benson Cemetery in Whitten. Creps-Abels Funeral Home of Eldora is in charge of arrangements.
Gladys Arnold was born on August 2, 1908, the daughter of Kester and Ethel Bertha Burch Fisher at Albion. On December 31, 1925, she was married to George E. Arnold at Colo. They made their home in Whitten until moving to Leavenworth, Washington in 1946, remaining in the central Washington area.
In 1952 she began working as a cook in the kitchen of the Cascade Hospital in Leavenworth until she retired in the early 1970s. She then enjoyed working seasonally as a packer in the fruit warehouses for many years.
She spent the last three years making her home with her daughter in Cassville, Wisconsin and with her son in Wenatchee, Washington. She was a longtime member of the Navy Mothers Club in Leavenworth.
She was preceded in death by her husband on November 21, 1971; one sister, Opal Daniels; and one brother, Milo Fisher.
Survivors include one daughter, Beverly June Freed of Cassville, Wisconsin; two sons, George Arnold, Jr. of Tacoma, Washington and David Arnold and his wife, Margaret, of Wenatchee, Washington; one brother, Robert Fisher of Hawley, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Carolyn Elaine Kriz of Eldora, Jo Marie Callaway of Whitten, Michael Judson Freed of Cassville, Wisconsin, Cynthia Lynn Brock of Wenatchee, Washington and David Arnold, Jr. of Aloha, Oregon; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
