Mrs. VanHeiden died at her home near Ackley Monday afternoon. The VanHeiden family have been residents of the community adjacent to Ackley a good many years.

Mrs. A. Van Heyden

Had Been a Resident of North Grundy Fifty-three Years

The passing of Mrs. A. VanHeyden, of whose death brief mention was made by the World-Journal of Thursday last, marks the passing of one of the oldest of the old residents of German township and north Grundy county. She, with other members of the family continued her residence here fifty-three years; their several children were born on the old home farm and many and varied have been the changes since that time. They came as young people, with the proverbial "willing hands and honest hearts" and they assisted in converting what at that early day might have been referred to as "no man's land," to the present, ranking with the best, most productive and most valuable farm lands in Iowa. The schools and churches then were few and far between, but the boys and girls of yesterday are the men and women of today who are continuing to improve conditions.

Mrs. VanHeyden was the mother of seven children, five boys and two girls--Mrs. Jacob Miller and Mrs. Harm Tapper, the latter living at Webster City. Mr. VanHeyden died in 1899. Her age was 70 years and eight months.

Funeral services held Friday afternoon last, were conducted by Rev. Bizer, pastor of the German church seven miles southeast of Ackley and the remains were interred in the cemetery adjoining the church.
