Last Rites For Ella Hamilton Held At Alden
Ella Natalie Hamilton, 85, of Lake Havasu City, AZ, formerly of Iowa Falls and Alden, died May 4, at Havasu Nursing Home.
Services were held on May 8th at the Alden Methodist Church with burial in North Lawn Memory Garden at Iowa Falls. Rev. Harley Carbaugh officiated.
Ella was born July 4, 1903, in Wellsburg, Iowa, to Dietrich and Lula (Akkerman) Claassen. She attended the Wellsburg schools and was a piano teacher for many years. In 1920 she became a member of the 2nd Christian Reformed Church and was a charter member of the Helping Hand Society. Later on she joined the Iowa Falls M.E. Church and then the Alden M.E. Church.
On March 19, 1936, she and Glen Hamilton of Iowa Falls were married in Des Moines, IA. They made their home on a farm near Iowa Falls. Her husband died November 1970. In 1975 she moved to Alden.
Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Roberta Miles of St. Charles, IA, and Mrs. Gary (Francis) Clark of Lake Havasu City, AZ, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers, Richard, Virgil and Thomas Claassen.
The Surls Funeral Home of Alden was in charge of arrangements.
