Services Held For Thomas Dunsmoor

Thomas Dunsmoor, 81, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, formerly of Fort Dodge, died Saturday, May 21.

Memorial services were held at Bella Vista, Arkansas, on Tuesday and graveside services and burial took place on Thursday at Bloomfield.

Thomas was born December 29, 1912, in Fort Dodge. He was a graduate of Fort Dodge High School, Fort Dodge Junior College and the University of Northern Iowa. He received a master's degree from the University of Colorado.

He married Eleanor Schantz on June 22, 1940, in Marshalltown. The couple moved to Bella Vista in 1980 from Wellsburg, where he was the superintendent of schools.

He was a member of Bella Vista First United Methodist Church, Methodist Men's Club, and the Methodist Men's 9 Hole Gold Association. In Bella Vista he was also a member of the American Legion, the Retired Officers Association, and a former member of the Men's 18 Hole Golf Association. He was a teacher, coach and school superintendent for over 32 years in Iowa. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the European Theater.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Dunsmoor; daughters, Vicki Meyer of Browerville, Minnesota and Lisa Wagler of Bloomfield; two brothers, Douglas and Robert, both of Fort Dodge; two sisters, Earline Grandsen of Fort Dodge and Patricia Stephens of Iowa Falls; and 5 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Venita.
