Rites Held For William Peters

William W. Peters of 608 Nash Street, Aplington, IA, was born the son of Simon and Jennie Buskohl Peters on June 17, 1903, 1/2 mile West of Parkersburg. He attended the Parkersburg Schools.

On August 22, 1928, William was united in marriage to Lillian Lindaman in the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Following their marriage they farmed North of Aplington, until retiring in 1963, and moving to their present home.

Bill was a life long member of the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg.

He died at his home about 7 a.m., May 23, 1986. He reached the age of 82 years, 11 months, and six days. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clarence and Cecil.

William is survived by his: wife, Lillian of Aplington; two sons, Benton and Stewart Peters both of rural Aplington; one daughter, Barbara, Mrs. Thomas White of Jesup, IA; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Musch of Ackley and Mrs. Clara Northrop of Falls Church, VA.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, 1986, at the Congregational Church of Parkersburg, with Rev. Rod Wetzig officiating. Alyce Lindaman was the organist and the congregation sang "Amazing Grace" and "Just As I Am". The recessional hymn was "How Great Thou Art". Casket bearers were Robert Lindaman, Michael Peters, Randall Peters, Harlan Peters, Christopher Peters and Daniel Buseman. Interment following in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, IA. Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Chapel of Aplington was in charge of arrangements.
