Oran D. Meyer Rites Are Held

Funeral services were held on March 27 for Oran D. Meyer, 80, of Marshalltown at 1:30 p.m. at the Elim Lutheran Church at Marshalltown. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Marshalltown.

He died on March 24 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center of a heart attack.

He was born in Wellsburg on June 22, 1910, to Andrew and Florence Doyen Meyer. He grew up and was reared and educated in Grundy County. In 1930 he graduated from Marshalltown High School and from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1932. Until his retirement in 1972 he was employed by Pursel-Davis Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife Bernice and three sons: Douglas Meyer of Marshalltown, Darryhl and Darwin Meyer of Cedar Rapids. There are also 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Meyer was a member of Elim Lutheran Church, a former member of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association, IOOF Goethe Lodge 211, and the Conference of the Examining Board of the United States.
