E. M. Predmore died at his home in Dike Tuesday morning at 7:20, after suffering for nearly six years with apoplexy. He was 67 years old. In his younger days Mr. Predmore was a veterinary and horse trainer. He was a master hand with horses and was known all over northeastern Iowa for his skill in breaking and subduing western horses and "bad" horses. There are probably few towns throughout this and the northern section of the state who didn't know Dr. Predmore in the eighties and nineties. Seven or eight years ago his health began to fail. Six years ago the family moved to Dike, and Mrs. Predmore and Etneta had charge of the local telephone exchange for about two years. In the winter of that same year Mr. Predmore had his first stroke which left him almost helpless, a second one about two years ago rendered him entirely so. His sufferings the past two years have been more than most people would care to stand, and his great weight made it hard for Mrs. Predmore to care for him. A third stroke last week brought about the end of all his earthly suffering. Eugene Matthew Predmore was born in Newark, New Jersey, July 24, 1851 and died at Dike, Iowa, Oct. 22, 1918. On June 5, 1886 he was married to Miss Ella Reeder of Mankato, Minn. To this union was born two children Etga Predmore of Sac City, Iowa, and Mrs. Lauritz Henningsen of Dike.
