Larry J. Erpelding, 64

Larry J. Erpelding, 64, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo following a year long battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 6, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Dike. Rev. Rick Johnson officiated. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. Military rites were conducted by the American Legion Post #471, Dike. Masonic Rites were conducted by the Honor Lodge #646 A.F. & A.M.

Pallbearers were Jack Klein, Dick Juhl, Bill Hinkle, LaVerne Middleswart, Lloyd Grandon and Lynn Lovell.

Larry was born Jan. 27, 1935, in Waterloo the son of James A. and Julia M. (Laufer) Erpelding. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.

Larry was united in marriage to Annette D. Dreessen on Aug. 18, 1957, in Gladbrook. He worked for Marshall Printing Company in Marshalltown and then to his retirement in 1997 was employed by The Wolverton Printing Company in Cedar Falls.

Larry was Past Worshipful Master of Honor Lodge #646 A.F. & A.M. at Dike. He was a member of The Scottish Rite Temple and The El Kahir Shrine Temple, both in Cedar Rapids, and the United Methodist Church and American Legion Post, both in Dike.

Larry is survived by his wife, Annette of Dike; two sons, Kirby J. and his wife Deanne J. of Ft. Morgan, CO and James A. of Cedar Falls; two grandsons, Kristopher J. and Matthew J. Erpelding also of Ft. Morgan; and his step-mother, Lois Erpelding of Dike and Lakeland, FL.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother in infancy.

Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
