Rites Held For Samuel Miller

Samuel Miller, age 89, of the Cedar Falls Health Care Center, passed away Thursday morning, January 22, at Sartori Hospital of complications of age.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, at the Zion Lutheran Church in rural Hudson. Rev. Jerome Godson officiated.

The organist was Tammy Bern. Soloist, James Wulf, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art."

Casket bearers were William Gutknecht, Leonard Bauer, Gerald Bauer, Donald Noltensmeier, David Miller and Gary Miller.

Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Dike.

He was born January 9, 1898, in Broughdone, Ireland, son of Peter and Rebecca Johnson Miller. He came to the United States in 1915, and made his home with his brother, Hugh. He married Nellie M. Bauer on January 9, 1929, in Cedar Falls.

He was a retired area farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Wesley and Marvin, both of Dike; four grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby, Rebecca, and Martha all of Ireland.

The Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home of Cedar Falls was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
