Gathering Flowers
He loaned me a flower, my Father above,
A choice little rosebud, to tend and to love;
And, Oh, I found joy and contentment so true,
In watching my flower unfold as it grew.
But brief was its stay in my garden below;
In paradise Garden my bud blooms, I know.
And deep in my heart, though the tears dim my eye,
Sweet memories linger that never shall die.
I know in this garden so fragrant and fair,
The Gardener is tending my flower with care.
He walks 'mong His lilies and roses so sweet,
And loves every bud into beauty complete.
I know that some day He shall call and I
Shall know all the whys and wherefores for aye,
And so I am trusting and waiting in prayer,
And Heaven seems near, since my flower is there.
