Mary Sprole, 84, of Dike, passed away Monday, June 19, at the Western Home in Cedar Falls of congestive heart failure.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 22, at the United Methodist Church in Dike at 10 a.m. with burial following in the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike.

Memorials may be directed to the Dike Dollars for Scholars or the Dike United Methodist Church.

Mary was born on December 10, 1910, the daughter of George and Sylvia (Jackett) Terrall in Grundy county. On April 7, 1932, she was united in marriage with Marvin Sprole in Galena, Illinois. After their marriage she and Marvin farmed in the Dike area until 1954 when they moved to Dike.

Mary received her BA degree from ISTC. She completed her graduate work at the University of Northern Iowa. She worked in the Dike school food service program for several years and retired as High School Librarian in 1975.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin in 1960; one grandson, John Biersner; her parents; and one brother, George.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Biersner and husband Earl of Dike; son, William Sprole of Green Bay, Wisconsin; 4 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The Dike Funeral Chapel is in charge of the professional arrangements.
