Services Friday for Marvin Sprole

Funeral services were held at the Dike Methodist Church Friday afternoon for William Marvin Sprole, 57, who died of a heart condition at the Grundy hospital last Wednesday evening.

Marvin was born March 31, 1903, at Traer, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Sprole. He attended the Traer High School and Gates Business College in Waterloo. He married Mary Terrall on April 7, 1932, in Galena, Ill. They farmed in Grundy county from 1930 until 1954 when they moved to Dike.

Rev. Harry Gleim officiated at the service. Burial was in the Dike cemetery.

Pallbearers were Harlan Nielsen, Holger Dall, Gaylen Stewart, Bernard Christiansen, Charles Paige and Fred Timmer.

Special music for the service was provided by a quartet composed of Mrs. John Volberding, Mrs. Glenn DeBower, Mrs. Jack Heritage and Mrs. Harry Timmer with Mrs. Joe Bohr as the organist.

Flower attendants were Mrs. Tena Duisman, Mrs. Jorgen Madsen, Mrs. Minnie Eddy and Mrs. Harold Madsen.

Among the relatives attending the services from a distance were Marvin's sisters and their husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Corriel of Atalissa, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hess and daughter Gretchen from Alliance, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Art Jones of Utica, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Silliman of Woodstock, Ill., and Bill Sprole, who came from Fort Richardson, Alaska.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Mrs. Earl Biersner; a son, William; his mother, Mrs. Mary Sprole of the Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls; three sisters, Mrs. Walter Hess of Alliance, Ohio, Mrs. Lester Carriel of Atalissa, Iowa, and Mrs. Pearce Walsh of Nome, Alaska; and four grandchildren, John, Robert, Ann and Jane Corriel.

He was preceded in death by his father William in 1944.
