Eldon Lee Rindels, 77

Eldon Lee Rindels, 77, of Dike, died June 7 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services were June 11 at the Dike United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. Memorials may be directed to the church or to the Western Home communities.

He was born February 5, 1927, in Parkersburg, the son of Herman and Laura (Doescher) Rindels. On March 10, 1948, he was united in marriage to Ruth Freese at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Eldon farmed for 25 years and he also worked for the Grundy County Secondary Road Department, driving a maintainer for 14 years, retiring in 1988. He was a United States Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Dennis and his wife Lois Rindels of Dike; daughter, Diane Barber of Waverly and her fiance Gary Loftus; five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Carol Jean Rindels in 1978; and a daughter-in-law, Sally Rindels in 1981.
