E. Joyce Boike, 83

E. Joyce Boike, 83, of the Western Home Martin Center, formerly of Dike, died at the center Tuesday, June 27, 2000, of natural causes.

Funeral services were Friday, June 30 at Dike United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Dike. A memorial fund is being established.

She was born on November 18, 1916, in Homer, WI the daughter of Franklin and Ethel Reid Burris. She married Harmon Robert Boike on May 31, 1937, in Nashua. He died on Nov. 24, 1984.

Mrs. Boike received a teaching degree from Iowa State Teachers College. She and her husband farmed in Grundy County and she was past Noble Grand of the Dike Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include a son, James of Dike; three daughters, Marilyn Harris of Omaha, NE, Judith Mohling and Dorothy Heine, both of Cedar Falls; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a half-brother, Bob Burris of Mason City; and two half-sisters, Peg Prohaska of Cedar Rapids and Ruth Ann Hermans of Apollo Beach, FL.

She was preceded in death by a son, Curtis; a grandson; a half-brother, Franklin Burris; and a half-sister, Rose Marie.

Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
