Rickstena Cordes Services Held

Rickstena Cordes, 95, of Dike, passed away on Thursday, July 27, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls of natural causes, having attained the age of 95 years and 6 months.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 29, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel, Cedar Falls, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Gloria Stickert and Pastor Ronald Nichols officiating. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery, Dike.

Pallbearers were Randall Cordes, Andrew Cordes, Robert Cordes, Daniel Cordes, Casey Cordes, Rodney Cordes and Steven Cordes.

A memorial fund has been established.

Rickstena Cordes was born January 27, 1900, in Grundy county the daughter of Uke and Frauke (Schiller) Lupkes Sr. She was baptized August 24, 1900, at Salem Lutheran Church in Grundy County.

She was united in marriage to John D. Cordes on February 25, 1926.

Rickstena was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1958; her parents; 1 sister, Fannie Bruns; and 1 great-grandson, Daren Cordes.

Survivors include 2 sons, Vernon and wife Mary of Dike and Kenneth and wife Glenda of Wellsburg; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Uke Lupkes, Jr. of Parkersburg and Herman Lupkes of Grundy Center; and 1 sister, Gertie Cordes of Grundy Center.

The Dike Funeral Chapel, Dike, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
