Former Resident Dean E. Reed, 49, Died March 29th

Former Dike resident, Dean E. Reed, 49, of Independence, Iowa passed away at the Peoples Memorial Hospital in Independence last Saturday, March 29, 1975, following a short illness.

Military memorial services were held at 7:30 p.m. and Masonic services at 8 p.m. last Monday evening at the White Funeral Home Chapel in Independence. Funeral services were held at the Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Burial to be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike.

Dean Reed was a graduate of the Dike High School, served in the armed services during World War II. For a number of years he was city clerk at Independence. He later was an employee of Thorpe Well Co. of Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his widow, Mildred; a daughter, Mrs. Steve Benson of Ames; his mother, Mrs. Addie Reed who resides at the Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls and three brothers, Nathan of Cedar Falls, Lyle of Dunlap and William of Chula Vista, California.
