Johansen Rites Held Saturday

Helga Johansen, 87, of Dike, passed away Thursday, September 12, 1996 of natural causes at the Grundy Care Center.

Born May 17, 1909, in Reinbeck, Iowa, Helga was the daughter of Axel and Hansmine (Christiansen) Neilsen. She received her education in rural Montana and later returned to Iowa to marry Viggo Johansen on March 3, 1934, at Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church. Helga was employed by the University of Northern Iowa until her retirement in the mid '60's. Helga became a resident of the Grundy Care Center in June of 1996.

Helga was preceded in death by her parents; husband Viggo in 1975 and two brothers, George and Elmer Nielsen.

Survivors include one daughter, Rose Dittmer of Grundy Center; one son, Robert Johansen of Dike; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dagmar Nielsen and Emilie Kaae, both of Plentywood, Montana.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 14, at the Dike Funeral Chapel at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Steven Solberg officiating. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery in Dike.
