Fred Greenfield Died In His Sleep

Fred Greenfield died in his sleep sometime during Thursday night. He was in his usual good health when he retired Thursday evening. He was 84 years old.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church in Dike on Saturday afternoon. Burial was in the Dike cemetery.

He was born near Woden, Iowa, June 4, 1876. The largest portion of his life was spent in Grundy county. He resided in Grundy Center several years where he operated a tavern and was a salesman for Ford cars. About 20 years ago he moved to Dike and resided there continually up to the time of his death. He was twice married. His second wife died in 1946.

Surviving are two brothers, Peter, Harcourt, and John, Woden; and five sisters, Mrs. Ed Harrenga, Estelline, S.D., Mrs. Jake A. Huisinga, Britt, Mrs. Ralph Ites, Buffalo Center, Mrs. Henry Korte, Sr., Albuquerque, N.M., and Mrs. Antoy Buns, Woden.
