Memorial Services Friday, Sept. 24th For H. Henningsen

Memorial services for Herman B. Henningsen, 80, were held at the Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church last Friday, Sept. 24, 1971. Pastor Joseph B. Sibert officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service.

Mr. Henningsen passed away early last Tuesday morning at the Morton Plant Hospital at Clearwater, Florida, after having been a patient there for 13 days.

Mrs. Raymond Johnson sang two selections at the memorial services, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden." She was accompanied by Mrs. Ralph Thuesen, who also played selected numbers of the prelude and postlude.

The casket bearers were Lawrence Mark, Ben Clapp, W. W. Parker, Theodore Gerdes, Holger Jensen and Gerald Bruns.

Mr. and Mrs. George Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Johnson were in charge of the floral arrangements. Ushers were Ralph Thuesen and Edward Sherwood. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery at Dike.

Herman Henningsen was born August 23, 1891, in Fairfield township in Grundy county, the son of Lauritz and Maren Slifsgaard Henningsen. On Nov. 19, 1914, he married Minnie Kroemer. During the forepart of their married life they farmed, then in 1930 they moved to Dike and operated a hardware business. They retired from the business in 1945. Minnie Kroemer Henningsen passed away in October of 1951.

H. Henningsen married Adah Walters Henningsen in November of 1952. During the recent years they had made their home in Largo, Florida and Dike.

He was a member of the Fredsville Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his widow, Adah; three daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Dorothy) Brandhorst of rural Dike, Mrs. Martin (Velma) Stevenson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mrs. Keith (Marlys) Bowers of Albuquerque, N.M.; one brother, Lauritz Henningsen of Gibsonton, Florida; one sister, Mrs. Laurits Hansen of Dike; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, three sisters and eight brothers.

The Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
