Services Fri. For Dick C. Bruns

Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 1 for Dick Chris Bruns at the First Methodist church. Mr. Bruns died Oct. 29th at the Grundy Co. Memorial hospital, where he had been a patient since Sept. 5th.

Rev. Robert Crum was in charge of the services. Music was furnished by organist Mrs. John Paige and soloist, Mrs. Robert Crum. Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Nita Kappelman, Mrs. Edel Johnson and Adam Deadrick.

Pallbearers, all nephews, were Raymond Bruns, William Bruns, Elmer Eiklenborg, Frank Eiklenborg, Jerry Aswegan Sr., and Jurgen Webrand. Burial was in the Dike Elmwood cemetery.

Dick Chris Bruns was born April 4, 1889 in Lincoln township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jurgen Bruns. He was united in marriage to Tillie Cirks on Feb. 19, 1914 at Greene.

As a young man he worked on farms in Lincoln twp. and farmed the first 12 years of his marriage. In 1926 they moved to their present home in Dike. He worked one year for the town.

He was manager of the Marathon Service station on Highway 57 from 1927 to 1952, when it was sold to the Cities Service Oil Co. He managed the Cities Service station for 3 1/2 years, thus completing 28 1/2 years in the same location.

He retired June 1, 1956. He suffered a stroke two days after retiring.

He was a member of the Methodist church and a long time member of the Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include a daughter, Lylas Ilene at home; son, Gerald Dick, Dike; a granddaughter; three brothers, Fred, Stout, John, Alden, Andrew, Aplington; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Webrand, New Hartford, Mrs. Cap Niemann, Clear Lake, S.D.; many nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one sister, two brothers.
