Death Comes To Hans L. Andersen

Death came to Hans L. Andersen February 21st of a heart ailment. About ten years ago he was stricken with rheumatic fever which left him with a weak heart. Since July he had been in and out of hospitals constantly. He bore his burden as a real Christian. He loved life, but said "God knows best," and the end came Sunday morning at seven o'clock. He was a friend of everybody and liked everybody, telling them so with his ever present smile.

Hans L. Andersen was born April 1, 1906, the eldest son o f Carl and Emma Andersen, on a farm one-half mile east of Dike. He graduated from the Dike high school with the class of 1925. He took a short course at Ames and was Grundy county cow tester for three years.

In 1929 he was married to Miss Della Koch of Dike at Des Moines. Their 25th wedding anniversary would have been Feb. 25th.

They made their home for two years in Dike and he assisted his father in farming. Later they moved to a farm seven miles south east of Dike which was their home for eighteen years. In 1948 they moved to their present farm one and three-fourths miles northeast of Dike.

They were blessed with three children: 1st Lieut. Mervin Andersen of Falmouth, Mass.; Miss Norma Andersen of Waterloo and Mrs. Marvin Multhauf, who with his widow survive, also one granddaughter, Sheila Marie Multhauf, two brothers, Erhart of Dike and Axel of Geneva, Iowa, a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. Andersen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith but later joined the Methodist church at Dike. He loved the church and it hurt him deeply when he was unable to attend.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Dike Methodist church with Rev. L. J. Runion officiating. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery.
