Bill Rottmeyer Services Held

William H. "Bill" Rottmeyer, age 92, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Sunday evening at Parkview Manor Nursing Home at Reinbeck. He was formerly of Dike, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 24, 1982 at 2:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Dike. Rev. James F. Hanke officiated. Craig DeBerg sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross." He was accompanied by Mrs. John Paige who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Pallbearers were Ed Marks, Ed Miller, Chris Freese, Jim Biersner, Pete Badje and Jack Heritage. Russell Hohenberger and John Volberding served as ushers. Mrs. Lewis Luitjens and Mrs. John Volberding were in charge of floral arrangements.

Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Dike. Relatives and friends were invited to remain at the church following the service for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshment.

Mr. Rottmeyer was born on January 4, 1890, on the Rottmeyer family farm west of Fern. He was raised on that farm. On February 12, 1912 on the Rottmeyer farm he was united in marriage to Delva Etzen. After their marriage they farmed on the same farm until 1934 when they moved to Dike. He ran a dairy for two years in 1937 and 1938, after which he did general trucking until he retired at age 65.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Delva, who is a resident of the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Reinbeck; one daughter, Mrs. Holger (Wilma) Dall of Reinbeck; one son, Harley, of Hastings, NE; one sister, Mrs. Laura Somers of Portland, OR; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established. The Dike Funeral Chapel, Dike, was in charge of arrangements.
