John Deadrick, Old Resident, Died Thursday

John Deadrick, age 82, retired farmer who had resided in Dike since 1923, died Thursday, July 9 at 6:50 p.m. at his home. He became ill in December and was bedfast since the last of January.

John Deadrick was born in LaSalle county, Illinois, May 11, 1860 and came to Grundy County when a young man, renting the Vanderlip farm in Grant township. Mr. and Mrs. Deadrick were married January 1, 1889, at Cedar Falls. They made their home on the Eldrich Wilson half section one mile west of Dike for ten years, later buying a part of this farm and erecting new buildings which was their home until they moved to Dike.

He leaves besides his widow; two sons and one daughter, Adam F. of Dike, John W. of Cedar Falls and Mrs. H. A. Freitag of Los Angeles, California; two grandchildren and one half-sister, Mrs. A. Smyslony of LaSalle county, Illinois.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 1:30 at the home and 2 o'clock at the Dike Methodist church with Rev. William Galbreth officiating.

Interment was in Elmwood cemetery at Dike.
