Edward Miller Services Held

Funeral services for Edward Miller, who was born April 22, 1926, and entered into eternal rest November 23, 1985, were held at the United Methodist Church, Dike, IA, on November 26 at 11 a.m. Reverend Shirley Textor officiated.

Mr. and Mrs. Randy Konken sang "One Day at a Time" and "I Believe." They were accompanied by Mrs. John Paige who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

The casket bearers were Jon Hansen, Gratus Mudderman, Albert Thorne, Norman Aswegan, John Paige, Harry Jacobsen and Gale Gast.

Interment followed in the Elmwood Cemetery, Dike, IA, where military rites were conducted by the Dike American Legion Post No. 471.

Edward was the son of John E. and Rena E. Ross Miller. He attained the age of 59 years, seven months and one day.

He attended school in Wellsburg and Stout and went to high school in Dike. He was drafted into the army in 1945 during his senior year of high school and served his country during WW II.

On June 21, 1953, he was united in marriage to Patsy Wittren in Cedar Falls. They lived in Cedar Falls before moving to Dike in 1956.

During his life, he had worked for the Dike Creamery, Marathon Station in Dike, Clay Equipment, Del Williams Ford Garage and the M & M Body Shop. He also worked at UNI until August of 1985 when he had to quit because of health reasons.

He was a member of the Dike Volunteer Fire Department for 29 years, the Dike American Legion Post No. 471 for 40 years and a member of the Stout Reformed Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy, of Dike; two sons, Marcus and Byron, both of Dike; one daughter (Suzanne), Mrs. Roger Lechtenberg of Dysart, IA.

The Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
