Darwin Lauterbach Of Texas Buried In Dike

Funeral and burial services were held here in Dike last Saturday, July 30, 1977, for Darwin J. Lauterbach, 28, of Cedar Park, Texas, a suburb of Austin, Texas.

Darwin Lauterbach passed away on Tuesday, July 26. He attained the age of 28 years, 8 months and 20 days.

The funeral services were held at the Dike United Methodist Church at 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon with the Rev. James Hanke officiating. Mrs. John Paige played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude and music interludes which included, "Abide With Me" and "How Great Thou Art."

Ushers were Jack Heritage, John Mulder and Byron Mulder. Pallbearers were Kenneth Pogemiller, Craig Pogemiller, Gery Deaver, Larry Wood, Philip Lauterbach and Leland Jans. Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hohenberger and Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Stewart. Lynn Engel and Edgar Abels provided cars for the family.

Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Dike. Friends and relatives were invited to return to the church for coffee, refreshments and visitation after the burial.

The Dike Funeral Chapel who were in charge of the local arrangements, held viewing at the Chapel Saturday morning prior to the body being taken to the church.

Darwin J. Lauterbach was born Nov. 6, 1948 in Waterloo, the son of Albert and Viola Jans Lauterbach. He attended and graduated from the U.N.I. High School in 1966. On March 16, 1969, at Vermillion, South Dakota, he was united in marriage to Wendy Clark. After living in Hiawatha, Iowa for two years, they moved to the Austin, Texas area where they have resided for 6 years.

Mr. Lauterbach was a draftsman in Cedar Park, Texas for the past four and a half years. He was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church in Austin and was presently a member and treasurer of the organization of Institute of Building Design.

Survivors include his wife, Wendy; a son, Trent, 7 1/2; a daughter, Tiffany, 3 1/2; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lauterbach, 6106 S. Union Road, Waterloo; a brother, Beuford, of Spring, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Don (Ardith) Johnson of Randalia and Mrs. John (Carma) Blackburn of Cedar Falls and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Jans of Reinbeck.

A memorial fund has been established.
