Cedar Falls--Earl C. Biersner, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, April 28, 2016, at UnityPoint-Allen Hospital.

He was born December 6, 1932 in Webster City, Iowa, son of Alexander and Esther Westrum Biersner. He married Charlotte Sprole on October 16, 1952 in Nashua, Iowa. She died October 10, 2005.

He owned and operated Biersner’s Cities Service and was employed in maintenance with Carnation/Swiss Valley for 23 years, retiring in 1991. He served as President of Swiss Valley Credit Union, was a 20 year volunteer for the Dike Fire Department, and a City Councilman in Dike 4 years.

Survived by: two sons, Robert (Pat) Biersner of Dike and Keith Biersner of Broomfield, CO; two daughters, Ann (Kent) Siems of Dike and Jane (Randy) Graham of Fairfax Station, VA; daughter-in-law, Brenda Biersner of Dike; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Bausman of Wellsburg and Avonell Biersner of Des Moines; two brothers, Jim (Berdene) Biersner of Dike and Ed Biersner of Hemet, CA; and sister-in-law, Agnes Biersner Dike.

Preceded in death by: his parents; a son, John Biersner; and two brothers, Roger and Marlyn “Sam” Biersner.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Dike United Methodist Church with burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Dike. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.

His passions were his grandkids, playing cards, watching sports and playing golf.
