Wellsburg--Lois Mae Thurston, 93, of Lone Tree, and formerly of Wellsburg, died Feb. 16, at Pioneer Park Skilled Nursing Facility, Lone Tree.

She was born Aug. 20, 1923, daughter of Harm and Sophie Konken. She married Melvin Thurston. He died Sept. 23, 1993. Lois taught school starting in 1941 near Wellsburg. She also taught in the Marshalltown area, Hudson, and Winneshiek County.

Survived by: two grandsons, Samuel (Caitrin) of Iowa City and Joseph (Nykole) of Clive; and six great-grandchildren, Delaney, Ileana, Brock, Imriel, Bella, and Neave.

Preceded in death by: a son, George.

Memorials: to Alzheimer or Hospice of Iowa City.

Iowa Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
