Services Dec. 26 for Clarence Harris, 63

Funeral services were held last Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 26, 1972 for Clarence Harris, 63, of Dike.

Mr. Harris passed away at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo at 5 a.m. last Saturday, Dec. 23. He had been a patient there for 10 days. Death was caused by emphysema.

Memorial services were held at the United Methodist Church, Dike at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverends Robert W. Hoover, Jr. and Joan S. Hoover officiating. Vocal music of "God Be With You" and "Whispering Hope" were provided by Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Graves with Mrs. John Paige presiding at the organ for the accompaniment and prelude and postlude selections.

Albert Lauterbach and Adam Deadrick were ushers. Flower attendants were Mrs. Max Childs and Mrs. Harmon Boike. Pallbearers were Russell Nielsen, Lewis Luitjens, D. E. Cathcart, Victor Hansen, Jack Heritage and Ted Miller. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Dike.

Clarence Harris was born June 26, 1909 in Pottawattamie county, the son of Abraham L. and Anna Petersen Harris. He never married. He lived on the home farm in Pottawattamie county with his sister, Harriet, till 1940 when his sister and family, the Lawrence Mark's, moved to Clarke county. They farmed there till 1950 when they moved to the Dike area farming north of Dike till January 1961 when they moved to their present home at 519 First Street, Dike. He was a member of the IOOF Telulah Lodge of Grundy Center.

Survivors include one brother, Curtis G. Harris, of Avoca; one sister, Mrs. Lawrence (Harriett) Mark and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
