Rites Held For Harriett Mark
Harriett Adella Mark, of Dike, died Wednesday, June 10, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo of natural causes. She attained the age of 80 years, 11 months and 8 days.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 12, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Dike. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. Pastor Rick Johnson officiated. A memorial fund has been established.
Harriett was born on July 2, 1917, in Portsmouth the daughter of Abraham and Anna (Petersen) Harris. She was united in marriage to Lawrence E. Mark on October 17, 1936, at Rockport, Missouri. She worked on the family farm with her husband. After marriage the couple farmed in the Avoca area. They then moved to rural Weldon to purchase a farm. They moved to Dike in 1950 and farmed the Harry Heisler farm until 1961, when they moved to their new home in Dike. The couple farmed an 80 acres farm they purchased south of Dike.
Harriett was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge of Dike and the Dike United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aide.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; parents; and 3 brothers, Curtis, Clarence and Paul.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Anna Marie and her husband Carl Campbell of Waterloo and Phyllis and her husband Fred Hersey of Waterloo; 3 grandchildren, Patrick Campbell, Mark Hersey and Dianah Beaver; and 4 great-grandchildren, Nolan and Logan Campbell, Cody Hersey and Ashlyn Beaver.
Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
