Funeral Services For J. "Jack" Weatherly

Funeral services were held Friday, March 12, 1976 for former Dike, Cedar Falls and Waterloo resident John W. "Jack" Weatherly, 43, of 3540 Wisconsin Ave. North of New Hope, Minnesota.

Mr. Weatherly passed away of cancer at Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, Mar. 9th.

Funeral services were held at the Golden Valley Community Presbyterian Church in Golden Valley, Minn. at 9:30 a.m. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery at Dike, Iowa. The Dike Masonic Honor Lodge 646 held graveside memorial services and the Dike American Legion Post 471 folded and presented the casket flag to the family. The Rev. James F. Hanke, Jr., United Methodist Church, Dike officiated at the burial services.

John W. "Jack" Weatherly was born August 17, 1932 in Marshalltown, Iowa the son of Clifton and Bonita George Weatherly. In 1943 the family moved from Liscomb, Ia. to Dike, Iowa where he graduated from Dike High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1952 to 1954. He attended Iowa State University in Ames and for the past 15 years had been employed by Massey-Ferguson and attained the position of Sales Manager in the Minneapolis Regional office.

He was married to JoAnn Schulta of Grundy Center on Jan. 3, 1959 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

He was a member of the Golden Valley Community Presbyterian Church of Golden Valley, Minn.; a member of the Order of Elks; the Masonic Honor Lodge 646 of Dike and the American Legion Post 471 also of Dike.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Jackie Sue, 16, and Julie Ann, 15, and one son, James Wm., 10. Also his father and step-mother, Verna of Dike; two sisters, Mrs. Don (Sue) DeBower of Cedar Falls and Mrs. Robert (Helen) Kielty of Waterloo; two step-sisters, Mrs. Donald Jensen of Waterloo and Phyllis Oster of Seattle, Wash. and step-grandmother, Mrs. Lura Petersen of Dike.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 1959.

The Gearty-Johnson Delmore Funeral Chapel of Robinsdale, Minn. were in charge of arrangements.
