DIKE--Marlyn G. "Sam" Biersner, 76, of Dike, died Monday, October 18, 2010 at his home.

He was born August 28, 1934 in Stratford, Iowa, the son of Alexander and Esther Silvetta (Westrum) Biersner. He married Agnes Luebbers on May 1, 1965 in Geneva, IA.

He was a 1953 graduate of Dike High School and served in the United States Army. He delivered propane gas for thirty-two years, employed by Skelgas, Thermogas and Cenex.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes of Dike; daughter, Teresa (Joel) Welsher of Boone; son Brian Biersner of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Danielle and Laura Welsher; sisters, Donna Bausman of Wellsburg, Avonell Biersner of Des Moines; three brothers, Earl Biersner of Cedar Falls, Ed Biersner of Hemet, CA, and James (Berdene) Biersner of Dike; three sisters-in-law Clara Monson of Iowa Falls, Jo (Leo) De Vries of Ackley, and Janice (Ralph) Pagen of Florida; a brother-in-law, Gerhard Luebbers of Farmington, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a brother, Roger Biersner; five sisters-in-law, Charlotte, Jo Ann, Esther and Mary Biersner and Ruth Luebbers; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Bausman and Herbert Monson; and two nephews, John and Terry Biersner.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Reinbeck, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Dike. Military honors will be conducted by Dike American Legion Post 471. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, where there will be a 7:00 p.m. scripture service. Visitation also for one hour prior to Mass Thursday at the church.

A memorial fund has been established.
