Dike Man Dies In Grundy Hospital

Andrew Johnson, a retired farmer, died Sunday in the Grundy hospital, following an illness of several months. He was 79 years old. He underwent a severe operation two months ago and he remained seriously ill since the operation.

The body was taken to the Ferree funeral home where services were held Wednesday afternoon. The service was conducted by Rev. Robert Crum, pastor of the Methodist church at Dike. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery at Dike.

Mr. Johnson came to this country from Sweden at the age of 17 and worked on farms. He was married to Emma Rasmussen Jan. 28, 1906. The couple farmed in the Rock Island, Ill., area until five years ago, when they moved to Dike.

Surviving are the wife; 2 sons, Ernest Johnson, Springville, Ia., and Raymond, Lemberton, Minn. There are three surviving daughters, Mrs. Alice Skoglund, Rock Island, Ill., Mrs. Florence Olsen, Dike, and Mrs. Helen Schaefer, Moline, Ill. One sister, Mrs. Cecelia Johnson, Armstrong, Iowa, and two sisters in Sweden, Anna Nordmark and Ellen Negrin. There are 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
