Jacob Jacobsen Dies In Dakota

Jacob Jacobsen, who was born on a farm in Grant township, Grundy county, died Nov. 10 in a hospital at Elgin, North Dakota. He suffered a heart attack on Nov. 3, from which he was unable to recover. He was 83 years old.

Jacob Jacobsen was born in Grant twp., Grundy county, Iowa, March 26, 1884, the son of Peter and Hannah Jacobsen. He grew to manhood on the Jacobsen farm 3 miles east of Dike. He attended the public schools of the county and was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Fredsville at the age of 16.

He was for many years a stock broker in and around Dike, Ia.

As a young man he went to Mott, North Dakota, where he took a homestead, later returning to Dike to make his home. After a period of years, he again moved back to Mott, N.D.

He was married to Hazel Hall of Mason City on Oct. 24, 1913.

He leaves to mourn his untimely death, his widow, Hazel; four brothers: Hans of Bismarck, No. Dak., Martin, Walter and Jim, all of Dike; and two sisters: Elsie of Dike and Mrs. C. A. Morris (Mynne) of Grundy Center. Besides these there are six nieces and one nephew, together with 11 grand-nieces and nephews.

Jake, as people knew him, was a good friend, a capable business man, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Dike Methodist church. Burial will be in the Dike cemetery.
