Walter Jacobsen Life Resident Services Held

Funeral services for Walter Jacobsen, age 90, of Dike, were held Sunday, January 24 at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. James F. Hanke officiating.

Mrs. Bob C. Johnson sang "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." She was accompanied by Mrs. John Paige who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casketbearers were Charles Kruse, Robert Kruse, David Kruse, Daniel Kruse, William Fee and Clifford Parker. Jack Heritage and John Volberding served as ushers. Flower attendants were Mrs. Evelyn Dall and Mrs. Kurt Kelley.

Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Dike. Relatives and friends were invited to remain at the church following the service for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshment.

Mr. Jacobsen was born June 3, 1891 four miles east of Dike. He passed away at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 19 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital. He attained the age of 90 years, 7 months and 16 days. He was the son of Peter and Hannah Hansen Jacobsen and grew up in the Dike area. On February 24, 1915 he was united in marriage to Mabel Krumlinde. They made their home in Dike. He was an auctioneer for several years. He then worked for the city of Dike, then was employed by John Deere Co., Waterloo, in the electrical department for 25 years, retiring in 1956. On April 16, 1957 his wife, Mabel passed away. On June 12, 1958 in Conrad he married Elizabeth Krumlinde. He was a member of the Dike United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, four brothers and two sisters.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Mrs. Uarda Kruse of Conrad and Mrs. Robert (Maxine) Fee of Waterloo; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established. The Dike Funeral Chapel, Dike, was in charge of arrangements.
