Mrs. Alberts Funeral Held

Mrs. Edith M. Alberts, 81, died Sunday, March 18, 1979, at 4:00 p.m. at the Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the United Methodist church at Dike with the Rev. James F. Hanke officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Graves sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross". She was accompanied by Mrs. Alice Mayer. Casketbearers were Jack Heritage, Duane Habben, Albert Lauterbach, Keith Klar, Dr. H. H. Jorgensen and Mervin Andersen. Mrs. John Mulder and Russell Hohenberger, Mrs. Lawrence Mark and Mrs. Harmon Boike were floral attendants. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery, Dike. Relatives and friends returned to the church after the committal service for fellowship and refreshments.

She was born October 5, 1897 in Woodsen, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas Sr. and Lucy Devore Johnson. On February 4, 1920 she was united in marriage to Jacobus (Jake) Alberts in Lincoln township. After their marriage the Alberts farmed in Lincoln township five years and in 1926 the family moved to Dike. She was a member of the United Methodist church at Dike and a life member of the United Methodist Women's organization.

Her husband, Jake, preceded her in death on June 2, 1972. Others preceding here were her parents, two daughters, one grandchild, and three brothers.

Survivors include one son, Glenn of Rural Route, Cedar Falls, and two grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established. The Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
