Former Dike Resident, Cora Damm, Passes Away

Former Dike resident, Mrs. Cora Damm, 69, passed away at the Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls last Thursday, Dec. 9, 1976 of cancer.

Funeral services for Mrs. Damm were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11th at the First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery at Dike. Family members invited relatives and friends to share in fellowship and coffee at the Dike United Methodist Church served by the Grant Rebekah Lodge following the burial.

Cora Florence Damm was born July 16, 1907 at Reinbeck, the daughter of David and Cora McDowell Lynn. She married Carl D. Damm on Dec. 17, 1923 at Waterloo. They resided in Dike where he worked for the railroad and did carpenter work until moving to Waterloo in 1943 when he began working at the John Deere Tractor Works. Just prior to his retirement, they moved to Cedar Falls. Mr. Damm passed away in November of 1974. Mrs. Damm had worked for Dunkle's Food Market of Waterloo for 17 years. Mrs. Damm was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls and a 36-year member of the Grant Rebekah Lodge #305, Dike.

Survivors include two sons, Clifford of 3311 Marjorie Lane, Waterloo and James of North Ridge, California; two daughters, Mrs. George (Donna) Tarbuk of Beaver, Pa. and Mrs. David (Lynne) Gilchrist of Portsmouth, Va.; four sisters, Ruth VanTassel of Parkersburg, Dora Willsey of 1622 Waterloo Road, Alta Krumlinde of Floyd and Hazel Miller of Wellville, Ohio.

The Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home were in charge of the arrangements and held viewing at the funeral home and at the church until time of the services.
