Rites Friday For Carl D. Damm

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon, Nov. 8, for former Dike resident, Carl D. Damm, 72, of 1622 Waterloo Road, Cedar Falls. The services were held at the United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jo Hoover and Rev. Wilbur Wilcox, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls, officiating.

Musical interludes were played on the organ by Mrs. John Paige who also accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Graves who sang duet selections. Casket bearers were David Damm, Richard Damm, Dennis Damm, Leonard Jorgensen, Kenneth Krumlinde and Lynn Engel. Interment was at the Dike Elmwood Cemetery. Coffee and lunch was served at the church by members of the Rebekah lodge following the burial services.

Carl Damm was born Jan. 6, 1902, near Dike, the son of Andrew and Anna Rasmussen Damm. He married Cora Lynn on Dec. 17, 1923, at Waterloo. They resided in Dike where he worked for the railroad and did carpenter work until moving to Waterloo in 1943, when he began working at the John Deere Tractor Works. Just prior to his retirement they moved to Cedar Falls.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls, and of Local 838 Union of Waterloo.

Mr. Damm passed away on Wednesday morning, Nov. 6 at his home at 1622 Waterloo Road of an apparent heart attack.

Survivors include his widow, Cora; two sons, Clifford of Waterloo and James of Canoga Park, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. George (Donna) Tarbuck of Beaver, Pa., and Mrs. David (Lynne) Gilchrist of San Diego, Calif.; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Louie Damm of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter in infancy, two sisters and one brother.

The Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home were in charge of the arrangements and held visitation at the Funeral Home and at the church until service time. A memorial has been established.
